President of Iowa State Visits the Ag Department

The newly appointed President of Iowa State University visited and toured the agriculture education facilities at the high school. Along with this, she also sat down and spoke with students.

Bjustrom Named Honorable Mention at Science Fair

Grace recently showed her scientific research project on the best cooling methods of welds at the State Science and Agriscience Fair. She was named an honorable mention in the area of engineering at the science fair.

Chapter Wins Two Areas of National Chapter Award

Getting results back from the State National Chapter Award, the North Scott Chapter ranks fourth this year against all other chapters in Iowa. The chapter also won the award areas of Growing Leaders and Building Communities.

Four Teams Advance, A
Record Number

While competing at the South East District Contest at Lone Tree High School, four North Scott teams earned their ticket to compete at state in April. The teams moving on include Chapter Program, Chapter Website, Extemporaneous Speaking, and Ag Issues.

Sub-Districts at North Scott 

Students competed in various events at the North Scott Junior High School on Feb 18. 21 members participated in a competitive event and 8 different leadership contests advanced on to district competition.

National FFA Officer Visits
North Scott 

Ridge Hughbanks visited the FFA contest being held at North Scott junior high school during his term as central region  national FFA vice president. Here he provided an inspiring message for the kids before they competed throughout the day.

Top Ranked Proficiency Awards 

Chloe Engelbrecht and Dalton Hanenburg both received second place rankings at the state level for their proficiency awards in the area of Poultry Production and Diversified Horticulture. Also receiving a gold rating at the state level was Katie Seeman for her Vet Science SAE.

Hunter Receives Two Teaching Awards

Mr. Hunter recently was selected as the Iowa STEM teacher of the year by governor Kim Reynolds. Along with being the Iowa STEM teacher of the year he was also chosen as the Golden Owl recipient. Both of which he earned through his emphasis on growing leaders in the classroom.​

Costello National FFA Finalist

Congratulations to Collin Costello for being named a National FFA Finalist for his Dairy Placement Proficiency Award!! This is North Scott's first national finalist!! We are extremely proud of him!! He will being going up against 4 others at the National FFA Convention in October!!

3 Star Chapter in the National

The North Scott FFA Chapter earned 3 stars from the National FFA Organization!! Which is the highest designation of success a chapter can receive!! We will be recognized at the 91st National FFA Convention in October!!

Bjustrom Represents North Scott in
Des Moines

Grace Bjustrom was honored to represent North Scott High School at this years World Food Prize Global Youth Institute. Grace was one of 8 students to present her 5 page research paper to the 2018 World Food Prize Laureate Dr. David Nabarro.

New Junior High Advisor

We have a new Junior High Advisor her name is Mrs. Jennifer Westphal. She was an agriculture teacher at Easton Valley. We are so excited to start our 2018-19 school year with her!!
